TIPS FOR APPLYING TO JOIN VIKING

Perhaps in previous recruiting posts, you have already found a position that matches your personal aspirations. Therefore, in this post, we will share valuable tips to help you navigate the application process and increase your chances of becoming part of the world-renowned Viking® team. Let’s get started!
To begin with, you should check whether you have what it takes to become a Viking. We look for hospitality professionals who share Viking values, who are committed to providing the best service possible to our guests and to each other onboard. If you believe you perform and live best when part of a team, bringing humility and warmth, then you may be a great fit for the Viking family. Here are the minimum requirements for applying:
- All crew members, regardless of whether they interact regularly with guests, must be prepared to speak and understand English as this is our primary language on board.
- All crew members are subject to our grooming standards (including in relation to visible tattoos) and employees are expected to project a professional image at all times.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Willing to spend 4 to 6 months onboard at the time.
- Have an STCW certificate or be prepared to study and pass the exam prior to joining.
- Have a valid passport (Valid for at least 1 year from embarkation date).
- Experience in the hospitality or cruise industry is an advantage.
- Degree/ qualification from an hospitality academy or schooling hotel is an advantage.

Recruiting Process:
1. Online Application
- Candidate applies to job posting via Hoteljob, GCS’s website or email. We will confirm receipt of your application and share additional information to help you prepare for your profile.
- Candidate fills up C.V in GCS’s form.
- Candidate provides supporting documents: performance appraisal, work certificate, company reference in at least last two contracts.
- Candidate provides tattoo photo (if any): To verify if this tattoo position is acceptable according to Viking’s policies.
2. Online Profile Processing
- GCS Vietnam qualifies candidate’s documents and arranges an online pre-screening.
- GCS Vietnam submits candidate’s profile for Viking approval of interview. If there is an initial match, candidate will participate in an online interview.
3. Online Assessment
- Candidate participates in online interview with Viking, which will be conducted on Microsoft Teams.
- If a hiring decision is made, candidate will receive an email with the terms and start date to accept. If Viking chooses not to accept candidate during any part of the hiring process, candidate will be notified via email.
- Once candidate agree to terms in the offer email, an official offer letter containing further details will be sent for candidate’s review and signature.
Note: Candidate could apply for interesting position at anytime, from anywhere and free of charge; Viking sometimes invites shortlisted candidates to join on-site Assessment Center.
Boarding Preparation Process:
GCS Vietnam will assist candidate to complete all the following required documents at most convenience:
1. Safety Training and Certification
2. Visa Application
3. Medical Check-up
Note: Medical and visa expenses will be reimbursed to crew members.
